Theatre Of Possibilities illuminates key areas in artist Cy Twombly's creative life and coincides with an exhibition at Tate Modern.
The evening features a rare opportunity to hear Voile d'Orphee (the starting point of a cycle of paintings), the UK premiere of John Cage's late ensemble work Fourteen, and ends with Sally Burgess (who performed Pierrot Lunaire for Schoenberg/Kandinsky at the Almeida Theatre in 2006) singing Monteverdi's virtuoso setting of Tasso.
Cy Twombly, now in his 80th year, emerged as a prominent figure among a generation of artists working in New York that included Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns.
Programme:
Myth - Pierre Henri voile d'Orphee
NYC - John Cage Two Songs & Fourteen UK premiere
Italy - Claudio Monteverdi Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda
