Sweet Cider

Showing at: Arcola Theatre

Age: General

Genre: Play

Sub Genre: Drama

A community is in crisis. Two young Pakistani girls run from their families: one is hunted, the other forgotten.

Their bid for freedom has led them to an Asian women’s refuge in a nearby Northern town. But with dialogue across the generational divide impossible, the girls soon ask themselves how sweet freedom really is.

A poignant story of fractured family ties, Sweet Cider is the debut play by performance poet Emteaz Hussain.

It is produced by Tamasha, the award-winning company behind A Fine Balance, The Trouble With Asian Men and the groundbreaking East Is East.
